Breaking News:: Catholic Church Attacked Yesterday

- A church in Anambra state has been

attacked by unknown gunmen and several

persons have been killed

- According to news reports the state

governor, Willie Obiano has called for calm

as security operatives swung into action

- The commissioner of police in the state

also confirmed the attack

St. Philips Catholic Church in Ozubulu

located in Ekusigo local government

area of Anambra state was attacked this

morning, Sunday, August 6 and several

persons have been reported killed by

gunmen.

The attackers and their motive have not

been established but security operatives

are said to have swung into action as

investigations have begun.

Willie Obiano, the state governor has

called for calm and he has also visited

the scene of the attack to commiserate

with the parishioner 

According to Channels TV, Governor

Obiano condemned the attack and

promised to ensure that the culprits are

brought to justice. Garba Baba Umar,

the Commissioner of police in the state,

also confirmed the attack.
